Canine Quarterly was founded on a simple belief: that the world of purebred dogs deserves journalism equal to its history, craftsmanship, and tradition.

More than a publication, Canine Quarterly is an enduring journal of the people, places, traditions, and extraordinary dogs that define our community. Through thoughtful storytelling and exceptional photography, we look beyond the ribbons and results to explore the lives, relationships, histories, and passions that make the purebred dog world so remarkable.

From the homes and kennels where generations of dogs have been raised, to the judges, handlers, breeders, juniors, and families who have devoted their lives to them, Canine Quarterly tells the stories that deserve to be remembered.

We are proudly independent and intentionally editorial. Our work is guided by curiosity, quality, integrity, and a deep respect for the people and dogs whose stories we are privileged to share.

Our mission is not simply to chronicle what is happening today, but to create an archive of the purebred dog world as it exists now — preserving its traditions, celebrating its people, and documenting the extraordinary partnership between dogs and the people who love them for generations to come.

A Note From Our Founder

Canine Quarterly grew from my love not only for purebred dogs, but for the remarkable world that surrounds them. Over the years, I came to realize that some of the best stories in our community are not necessarily the ones told by a ribbon or recorded in a show result. They are found in the friendships formed at ringside, the mentors who share a lifetime of knowledge, the families who carry traditions from one generation to the next, and, of course, the dogs we never quite stop talking about.

I wanted to create a place for those stories — a publication that looks beyond the show ring and into the homes, kennels, traditions, travels, and everyday lives of the people who make the purebred dog community what it is.

My hope is that Canine Quarterly feels a little like being invited to sit down after a long day at a dog show: the dogs finally asleep, a cup of coffee within reach, and someone across the table beginning a story you know you’re going to remember.
